This is currently my favorite muxtape on teh Internets right now.
What is muxtape? It’s a simple website allows you to upload your music and create your own online mixtape. You’re too late: icouldbeyourboyfriend.muxtape.com is already taken.
Do send me what you’ve created and I want to post a listing of all the muxtapes created by my friends and readers. And then maybe we could have a vote on who is the best. The worst one would be kicked off the island.
This is my ridiculously amazing muxtape. I wouldn’t even click on it because frankly, if my muxtape were a club YOU would not be allowed past the velvet rope.

Neat! I got my account set up, complete with awesome science-dorky name, but no time to upload songs right now. I’m totally going to submit my list. And, unless you have serious objections, I might present the same challenge to my three readers on my blog. I’ll totally give credit where credit is due.

muxtape is a simpler copy of imeem.com - without all the rating, comments and other social features. Best reasons to use imeem instead of muxtape
1) no 12 track limit, use as many tracks as you like
2) upload tracks or borrow them for other people
3) it’s legal, unlike muxtape.

@hot chip: I think muxtape is better than imeem for what it is and nothing more, which is to replicate the old cassette/CD mixtape. A 12 track limit is a bit counter intuitive today but it forces the user when creating a mix tape to think more critically and creatively about the songs they are uploading. As for the legality of muxtape…I don’t know, you can’t download the songs and there is a per file size limit as well as a limit on the total number of songs that can be uploaded as you pointed out. Also, they have a link to buy the songs so I think it’s probably legally kosher.
