A friend has asked that you, the readers, decide which is superior: her home region of Long Island or New Jersey?
Update:
Fighting words!
Ayo: haha — nj is kicking ass
Me: I know! LI started off strong initially
Ayo: bc they’re the only ones who knew about it?
Ayo: nj is the shit – at least more of the shit than LI
Update 2:
Pooja: …people from NJ are crazy and rowdy and dirty.
Wow, tell ‘em how you really feel Pbad!
Update 3:
The poll is now closed on account of the mercy rule. And the winner quite unanimously is New Jersey. Here are the results:
80 votes total.
New Jersey: 63 votes (63%).
Long Island: 30 votes (38%).
Of course, the real winner here is Alaska.

This should be an enlightening discussion.

“Pooja: …people from NJ are crazy and rowdy and dirty. ”
Wow, I was going to say that NJ has mountain biking, canoeing, great pizza, diners, both NY football teams, and the school where Einstein worked. But I guess Pooja decided to take the discussion in a different direction.

Well you can only expect so much from someone who sides with LI right?
Like school in the summer. No Class

jersey girls are fun, hot, and down ass bitches. end of story.
jae // November 3, 2009 at 10:12 pm |
jersey girls aren’t trash because the trash gets picked up.
LI has the hamptons, lacrosse camps, and Manhasset.
Jersey is the armpit of America and the butt of Conan’s jokes.
Mun // November 3, 2009 at 10:59 pm |
Following on JAE’s points, LI can also claim The Gold Coast, Billy Joel, The Ramones, and ME!

Following up on Mun’s points, LI can also claim Natalie Portman, better pizza than NJ (hello Famous Pizza), and Me. Also we didn’t vote for Chris Christie! Bad NJ, bad!
AKSam // November 4, 2009 at 12:06 am |
Jon Bon Jovi came out of New Jersey. ‘Nuff said.
Ydsk // November 4, 2009 at 12:24 am |
Did someone use lacrosse camps to defend LI?
Think we have reached the end of the discussion with jersey winning by not eliminating itself…
pb // November 4, 2009 at 9:43 am |
I agree with Mun. Let’s not forget Natalie Portman and a certain pair of siblings we all know and love. Also, we didn’t vote for Chris Christie!
krunkymunky // November 4, 2009 at 10:57 am |
@ydsk: agreed. not sure how manhasset, the “gold coast”, or billy joel help the LI cause. also, isn’t famous pizza in CT? finally, NJ wins the pizza battle with its tomato pies: http://slice.seriouseats.com/archives/2005/01/delorenzos_toma.html

Jack Donaghy, Meadow Soprano and Karate Kid. LI, LI, LI.
Matthew Rodriguez // November 4, 2009 at 12:05 pm |
Not to take NJ’s side because, but Pbad, aren’t those all fake and made-believe people….?
Matthew Rodriguez // November 4, 2009 at 12:06 pm |
ALASKA.
krunkymunky // November 4, 2009 at 12:12 pm |
Meryl Streep > Alec Baldwin, Tony Soprano > Meadow Soprano, Shaq > Karate Kid. NJ, NJ, NJ
ydks // November 4, 2009 at 12:16 pm |
LI just continues to shoot themselves in the foot.
Alaska gave us Sarah Palin. Thanks for playing Mateo, you are the weakest link, GBYE.
But like I always say, if it keeps the riff-raff out, I’m always for outsiders hating on Jerz.

FU. Santa is skipping Soho this year.
ydks // November 4, 2009 at 12:18 pm |
themselves because of the multiple people on this thread? or themself because it’s LI I used as the subject.
/damn you grammar
ydks // November 4, 2009 at 12:28 pm |
Hah, you are correct, Santa will not be visiting Soho this xmas.
Things YDKS will not be having this year. Xmas in NYC, or a bday party. It is going to be a cold winter.
BTW, when does polling close? It seems like the people have spoken in the case of NJ vs. LI. Not a fair fight to begin with, but I guess you had to give LI and opportunity to see the truth in internet form.
Matthew Rodriguez // November 4, 2009 at 12:34 pm |
Your surprise bday party will be an exclusive event at Botanica. Good question on when poll ends…TBD EOD.
Mun // November 4, 2009 at 12:31 pm |
Now I know who ydks .
BTW, the Jerseyites who jitney over to the Hamptons during the summer love bashing Long Island. HYPOCRITES.
This whole competition has been perverted by natives. I think the votes of those who are from neither NJ nor LI are the ones which carry most weight. (PS, out-of-towners, when you vote, remember where LaGuardia and Kennedy are located.)
Matthew Rodriguez // November 4, 2009 at 12:33 pm |
Mun does have a good point in that NJ’s official motto is “Your third choice in case JFK or LaGuardia is closed!”
krunkymunky // November 4, 2009 at 1:06 pm |
I’m from Michigan.
ydks // November 4, 2009 at 2:07 pm |
You guys are now going to an argument about airports to support your cause?
Struggles!
AKSam // November 4, 2009 at 9:44 pm |
Go Alaska! Woot woot!
