State of Minds

Mayor Cory Booker, response?

Other spoofs: Forrest Hills State of Mind, Galactic Empire State of Mind, Minnesota State of Mind, Tiger Woods State of Mind, Oprah State of Mind, and what else? I feel like I’m missing about oh-30 more versions.

Honestly, It’s Good!

IMG_0093

An amazing Cream of Wheat ad from 1965. I love the copy, “It takes ideas to keep kids interested in breakfast.” I actually really want to try this. It looks good. Will report findings next week.

Cute Overload

15 photos of puppies eating ice cream.

This is Why You’re Fat

Last year for its 75th anniversary, Carvel handed out 75 “black cards” to celebrities that entitled them to free Carvel ice cream for 75 years. Lindsay Lohan got hers revoked. You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

Midnight Baseball in Alaska

Andrew Sullivan posted this cool olde time photo from my home state of Alaska:

Last night witnessed another midnight baseball game in Alaska. No artificial light required. And here is a picture of the first, 102 years ago.

Truly, Madly, Deeply

Tough looking soccer hooligan types loudly sing “Truly, madly, deeply” originally by Savage Garden in this ad campaign for Puma. It’s fitting for our current sports zeitgeist and the song lyrics capture how I currently feel about the World Cup. For tomorrow’s must-win game for the US, “I will be strong, I will be faithful.”

Bookshelf Garage Door

Terry snapped this photo of a bookshelf mural on someone’s garage door in Hollywood Hills.

The Sneaker Coloring Book

This coloring book got all growns up and became a sneaker freak. The Sneaker Colouring Book features 100 black-and-white line drawings of popular and iconic sneakers by Adidas, Converse, New Balance, Nike, Onitsuka Tiger, Puma, Reebok and Vans from 1916 to present.

I ordered this book as an early Christmas present to myself and I was able to buy it online from Chronicle Books with a 30% off discount plus free shipping thanks to my Google Fu (it is strong).

Xeno Oracle!

I, for one, welcome our new [insert name created by the Superhero/Villain Name Generator].

Nike Cake

Talented designer Erica Dorn set the bar high just that much higher for any future wifey prospects with this Nike shoe cake (I like cake).
