Last weekend I went to Lynda’s birthday party in Williamsburg.

First the night started off with me tagging along with April and her friend Darlene to an art gallery in LES for a prank. Darlene and the artist exhibiting that night shared a mutual friend. Darlene was asked by this friend to attend the show and tell this artist, who did not know her, that his art was “really boring.” Then she presented him with the congratulatory card and bottle of sake, which is what you see going on here in this photograph. There, now you have the whole back story.

Then we met up with everyone else at Lynda’s apartment for a little pre-gaming. One of her friends brought this bottle as a birthday.

The apartment party included mandatory face painting. One of Lynda’s friends getting some necking action.

We then left the apartment to head to a nearby bar. Along the way, we cut through a park which prompted a sprint race that caused this guy to collapse at the end.

When I walked into the bar, I heard someone tentatively ask, “…Matt?” I turned and it was MUNIRA! And Mariya! I love randomly running into friends.

AHHHH!

I’m constantly amazed at the amount of handy items girls carry around in their purse. No bar napkins for Dianna after spilling a drink, when she just happened to have some wet wipes in her purse!

In a marketing brainstorming meeting today coworker #1 complained about the smell of the whiteboard marker we were using. This remark unleashed a domino effect of puns, which I’ve penned here.

Coworker #2: That’s intoxicating.
Me: It left quite a mark on me.
Coworker #3: I’m drawing a blank!

Puns are fun.

Andre Agassi has been making the PR rounds promoting his new tell-all autobiography and people are making quite a “racket” over the revelation that he was once addicted to meth. The Wall Street Journal read the book so we don’t have to and in addition to his drug use, they share some of the other highlights and by highlight we don’t just mean his blond streaked hair which also turned out to be a weave.

*When Agassi loses to Thomas Muster in the 1994 French Open, he becomes angry at Muster not because he beat him but because the Austrian mussed Agassi’s hair when they met at the net post-match. “I stare at him with pure hatred. Big mistake, Muster. Don’t touch the hair. Don’t ever touch the hair.” (Pg. 192)

Last Friday I headed upstate to Albany for my long time hetero partner-in-crime Kaizar’s weekend long wedding extravaganza.

Ran into Omar as soon as we got to the hotel. He was carrying around a bag of sandwiches. He couldn’t seem to locate the people who had initially ordered them so he tried to unload them on everyone he ran into.

Not only could he not get rid of the sandwiches, he ended up with another bag of them!

Hussain and Kaizar’s brother Mufu! This night’s event is traditionally women only, but to accommodate the men folk, the first half included the guys. For the second half, we got sequestered in another room with only each other, a semi-flat basketball and net for our amusement. The women got to dance to Michael Jackson. Not fair!

At the end of the long night, a quick drink at the hotel bar included some silliness with the orange slice in my Blue Moon.

The early afternoon on Saturday, everyone on Kaizar’s side of the family and guests met for what was basically a hazing of the groom. It was pretty fannnntastic!

It started off tame.

And then the silly party strings started shooting out.

Pooja was a frequent target.

Like I said, Pooja was a frequent target….or a human shield employed by Kaizar.

Haha.

Even the wedding photographers couldn’t avoid it.

It’s desperation when even a kid is used by Kaizar for defense.

Afterwards, this yellow mixture was painted on his face.

Like I said, it became a hazing that was led by his whole family.

Notice how it’s about to be poured all over his head. No mercy!

The second part of this event included all the women greeting the yellow gunk covered groom.

The ritual included each woman stuffing his face with a really sweet pastry that seemed to quickly induce a gag reflex .

Everyone seemed to relish punishing Kaizar with giving him the biggest pastry they could find.

Hussain is compelled to try some as well. His expression clearly states DO NOT WANT.

Kaizar gets his revenge on his family–his parents and brother who looks really un-stoked.

Guests were not spared either as Lauren and her fiance Bob quickly discovered.

While waiting for the food, Chirag, a former a capella singer at Yale, is forced “volunteers” to sing for our entertainment.

Saturday evening was the actual wedding itself. Here’s Kaizar, me and his brother waiting in the hotel lobby.
