Science Confirms You Can Die of a Broken Heart

A new study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association states that there is evidence for the so-called “broken-heart syndrome” which suggests that the pain of losing a close loved one is so heartbreaking, literally, that it can trigger a heart attack (Wasn’t this the ending of The Notebook or Predator or something?). The study found that…

…a person’s heart attack risk is 21 times higher than normal the day after a loved one dies. Over time the risk of an attack declines, but it remains elevated within that first month. In the first week after a loved one’s death, for example, the risk was six times higher than normal.

“And kids, that’s why you should always keep your heart cold as ice…so you don’t DIE.” – Bitter Ted Mosby
